Research

Abhimanyu Acharya’s research interests include Theatre and Performance Studies, South Asian Studies, Victorian Studies, and Genre Fiction. His doctoral dissertation, using primary source information, studies modern Gujarati Theatre as it originated and developed in Colonial India. His postdoctoral project examines Historical Crime Fiction in South Asia, written by authors such as Vaseem Khan, Abir Mukherjee, and Sujata Massey. As part of research-creation, he is also working on a crime novel. 

His academic reviews have been published or are forthcoming in journals such as Modern Drama, Crime Fiction Studies, and South Asian History and Culture. His peer-reviewed article on Gujarati crime fiction is forthcoming in South Asian Crime Fiction since 1950s,  

He has presented his research at International Federation of Theatre Research, British Crime Historians Conference, Comparative Drama Conference, South Asia conference, Canadian Association of Theatre Research, and Association of Canadian College and University Teachers of English (ACCUTE).
